Fernando Nina examines Afro-Brazilian author Conceição Evaristo's literary concept of "escrevivência" — a neologism combining writing (escrever) and lived experience (vivência). The talk investigates how this approach functions as a decolonial strategy for representing Black women's experiences in Brazil, emphasizing themes of embodiment, reproduction, and desire.
Fernando Nina is Acting Professor in the Department of Ibero-American Cultural Studies at the University of Heidelberg.
